Basic Mouse & Keyboard Skills

 

Welcome to the amazing world of computers!  We’ll teach you keyboard skills and how to use the computer mouse.  Register for this course and for the Computer Made Easy class and you’ll be on your way to sending emails, surfing the Internet and using basic word processing.

Computer Made Easy

Once you have the basics, gain more confidence in using the computer. This course provides an opportunity for hands-on experience and practice using E-mail, Internet and Word Processing. Prerequisite: Basic Mouse & Keyboard Skills course or ability to use the mouse and keyboard.

Join us for free supervised practice sessions.  Recommended for all students taking Basic Mouse and Keyboard, Computer Made Easy or Brush Up on the Basics.  Also available to students who took classes with us in the Fall.

Learn all about email - how to open, reply, send and forward.   Set up and use the address book to create group messages.  Send, receive and save attachments. Reduce spam (junk mail). Prerequisite:  Computer Made Easy or equivalent

The Internet (Basic/Intermediate)

Learn how to navigate the Internet with ease; how to successfully search for information; how to bookmark your favorite websites; how to stay secure on the Internet and how to know you’re on a safe shopping site.  Then use your new skills to enjoy some terrific websites!

Prerequisite:  Computer Made Easy or equivalent. Good mouse skills are essential!

Did you know that Google offers more than 30 free applications besides its basic search engine?  Learn about Google Maps, Google Docs, Google Scholar, Google Reader, Google Calendar and many more – and pick up some search tips too!.  Prerequisite:  Basic Internet or its equivalent.  Good mouse skills are essential!

Excel (offered jointly with the JCC)

Add Excel to your resume.  Learn how to create spreadsheets, to manage large lists and financial information, to graph the data and print it.  Also use it personally to manage your address book, your budget and your investments.  SeniorNet membership is not required for this class.

Research on the Internet

The Internet provides a rich source of information for research.  Learn how to develop a search strategy and use advanced features of Google as well as the free databases available online through New York State and The New York Public Library.  Make sure to bring a library card!
